roamed this wilderness

proud and free.

Then we became hunted

relentlessly.

Trappers and hunters

were motivated,

by bounties or salary.

I no longer live,

Humans in airplanes 

to our dread.

Shot us down 

from overhead.

None of us survived

this bloodshed.

Like the buffalo 

that once survived 

by the score.

We met their fate,

we are no more.

Saving us was not 

a priority!

We were lost in a sea.
