Tune: Belmont
(slower tune to 'There is a fountain filled with blood')
Nahum 1 v.3-8 (Old Testament)
*********
The Lord is slow to anger, see
And great in power be
Will not the wicked acquit, those
Who evil ways have chose
The Lord has His way in whirlwind
In storm does not rescind
His power, and the clouds they be
The dust of His feet, see
He rebukes the sea, makes it dry
Dries rivers by and by
The land languishes if no rain
Parches the earth again
At sight of the Lord the mounts quake
Hills melt at His name's sake
The earth is burned at His presence
Till He favours it thence
Who can before His anger stand
When it stirs o'er the land?
Who can endure it, fierce, fury
Like fire, rock-falls it be
The Lord is good, He a strong hold
In day of trouble, fold
Of His people shall be secure
he helps them evermore
He knows them that do in Him trust
Though they mere human, dust
But with a flood overflowing
He judgement sure will bring
To enemies, and he shall make
And act for His name's sake
And utter end of their place, true
Darkness shall them pursue

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. Nahum the prophet prophesies the destruction of Nineveh, a city of an enemy nation Assyria. There is a livelier tune to the hymn in the video, but it does not seem suitable for this hymn-poem.

The destruction of Nineveh is a reminder to learn from our mistakes, against the lord and each other. What a great poem.
Thanks RSM.
I just think that when there is a tornado, hurricane, volcano, landslide, or flood he got pissed off with what he made and is starting over. Good write Orchi
Thanks SB. Sometimes it's His judgements, I say. Sometimes man's doing?
Yes, yes, yes.
Thanks T.
Good one Orchi.
