A Friend to the Page

Accidental Poet

The blank page before me

Eager for my thoughts

Patiently waiting on me

To share that which I ought

But I’m finding of late

My thoughts quiet and serene

Words lost in debate

Questioning self esteem

Caught up in day-to-day life

The on goings of this and that

Which used to be of poetic subject

Lately I just stare dimly at

But the empty page

A dear and trusted friend

Always there when I’m in need

Takes in the words I send

No matter the subject

No matter the emotion

No judgement of guilt

No fuss or commotion

Only the freedom to write

A battle against emptiness I wage

My go to in a pinch

A friend to the page
