The very backbone of a poem
is its torment and ungraciousness?
it's the wheels of life churning ones’ guts
from the inside and laying them on the outsides
in the gutter of each poet’s soul
then seeping ink
onto each page
gloriously sharing each image
kindly gracing each emotion
whether it's happy or incredibly sad
dull in memory
or as bright as the lightbulb on the ceiling
of the king’s castle
thirty feet tall
not to forget the very
dungeons of death
and life's sweet cherry pie
the very backbone of a poem
is the poet
and the ink she seeps from her pen
hopefully leaving her reader
with a tummy full to its rim.

Well, my belly's full. You've defined the poem to a tee. I don't think there is an official definition of a poem, but you certainly hit most of the cues. So now, perhaps, I will be able to construct one. Thank you for this delightful start to my reading today. - Phil A.
Hello dear Phil, lovely to see you and yes, dig deep my friend. So looking forward to reading your next piece of art. 🌹 Thank you
You have nailed this Teddy. Brilliant, you have drilled home the backbone of a poem. It's the hunger and filling. Truly superb.
Thank you dearest Thomas, so very kind of you 🌹
I agree a poem is the emotion it evokes and whether it is sad or happy it matters not. You have worded it well and the poet is the pen that drips the ink of the soul onto the page. So well written this one is so true.
Thank you for your warm words dear sorrenbarret 🌹
We are indeed building castles sometimes from the dungeons-yours is always beautiful no matter what
