I Fell in Love with a Dream

Thomas W Case

I fell in love with a dream,
and then I woke up.
It felt like a gut punch.
I wanted so badly for
the dream to be real,
but it wasn't.

The antonym for
dream is
reality.
And the reality
was
that she could
never love me
like I loved her.

The thing that makes me love your poetry dear Thomas, and I do truly love it is that even when you speak of women, you do it with such dignity and respect, which is truly wonderful as a fellow lady poet, I find that you have a massive amount of charm, all so often, I read poems that are loosely written with a dig at women, and I just find it gross, but yours even when they make me blush are beautifully created and that's the sign of a real poet. Kudos my friend. 🌹

I think that this dream is more common than believed. Many of us have had this dream and maybe more than once. Nice work Thomas

And how painful is that reality when it sinks in. Sad poem Thomas.
