Tune: Ratisbon
('Christ, whose glory fills the skies')
Luke 15 v.8-10
*********
What woman has pieces ten
Of silver, her dowry then
As a garland round neck worn
What if one piece lost, forlorn
She shall be, she lights candle
And then takes broom, sweeps house all
She does seek diligently
Until she finds it, so be
When she has found it, then she
Calls her friends, neighbours, says, We
Can rejoice for I have found
Lost coin, let praises sound
So, likewise, there is joy in
Heaven, with angels therein
Over one sinner who turns
To God, repents, of Him learns
As lost coin is restored
So we now found with our Lord

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.7.7.7.7. No, not to contradict the poem recently, saying wisdom is better than gold or silver. This poem is a parable.

I do believe this poem is comparable with a previous hymn poem of yours in which you refer to wisdom, silver and gold and the values thereof .. Neville
Thanks N. Yes, though there I was advocating getting wisdom, understanding, etc, as 'treasure', not tangible gold or silver. You got gold hidden under your mattress?!
In this case it was very important the woman find her lost coin - part of her dowry.
A good write, Orchi.
Thanks J.
Silver or sheep, prodigal son returned it is by repetition that we learn. Great write Orchi
Thanks SB.
So true. Beautiful.
Thanks T.
Good one Orchi, I thought you gave that silver coin to KP for another operation. LOL
Andy
Thanks Gold. Yes lol. She must have spent 9 of the 10 coins of her dowry now.
