A girl I used to know

Charlotte3

There was once a girl who didn’t like to talk or be in big crowds,

Heart pounding against its cage, echoing in the ears, muffling out the sound,

Palms in a sweat, chest gasping for the next breath weighing her voice down,

But one day she was found, and those big crowds didn’t seem as bad now.

There was once a girl who didn’t see any value in what she had to offer,

Thoughts contained, crushing on the brain, she thought it was normal to suffer,

Trapped in that dark room, the exit absent, finding comfort in the weighted covers.

But He turned the lights on, stopped the pain, and her self-worth became tougher.

There was once a girl who lost control with anger and frustration,

Emotions smouldering, inferno sweeping through, virtues undergoing mutation,

An overwhelming sense of guilt that then follows her act of vexation,

But the flames extinguish in His presence, and her soul gives peace dictation.

There is a God who heals all brokenness,

A God who finds you in the vacuum of loneliness,

A God who never fails to clean up the mess,

Despite who you are and what you have transgressed,

Because I'm no longer the girl who lets the enemy poke at my weakness,

I am who by God's will, I was created to be and have been blessed.

Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
