Christmas In July.

Goldfinch60

In my long life

I have seen many things

But yesterday I saw something,

Something I could not believe.

We went up to the garden centre

To go to our coffee shop

And enjoy coffee with friends.

We got out the car

And there they were,

A family dressed in Christmas clothes!

I spoke to them,

Apparently Father Christmas was there

And they were taking the children

To see the red coated bearded man.

It seemed that the Garden Centre was celebrating,

Celebrating Christmas in July.

One of the shops had Christmas decorations,

Decorations all over it’s entrance,

Kids and parents were flocking in,

Flocking in to celebrate,

Celebrate Christmas in July.

The only thing I could think of

Was why the hell is this happening,

Its bad enough to have it once a year,

We do not need it twice!!

Did you shoot him, as you would shoot me, for mentioning C other than in December?! lol.
We can't imagine it warm(ish) as in Australia. In their December it must be like our June weather.
I saw a Dog Show - Fido was in it!

I must admit I was not best pleased! LOL

Yes - seeing some fat beardy bloke in red costume and welly boots in July - what next?! lol. That'll teach him if it was a hot day - sweltering in the costume.

        AAAAAAAAAAAArghh you did, didn't you

        • Goldfinch60

Unfortunately I did see it Neville. Just hope it is not there today when we go up for coffee.

Since commerce makes about fifty percent of their take at Christmas time they are striving to increase its span throughout the whole year. I could never afford it. Great write Andy

Very true soren, its all about making money!

What happened there, Andy is that you momentarily shape shifted (or something) to the Antipodes where, in mid-winter, in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, with elevation and hence the extra chill, they do precisely that.
Mind you, it has been extra bloody cold everywhere this winter.

            • Goldfinch60

Maybe I did Dave but it was very warm where I was looking at this scene.

Here, "Christmas in July" is a charitable event for kids in hospital. It usually has a Santa visit and gifts.
What we don't need is the heavy marketing of Christmas to extend into July. _ Phil A.

I didn't know that Phil, I would agree to that being a good idea though.

I love Christmas, and even I think July is too soon!

                • Goldfinch60

Yes it is too soon isn't it Christina.

You left out the maddening desperate suicidal shoppers after that great bargain. Twice? Please no.

                  • Goldfinch60

Yes I did Dan, they certainly are mad to go after the thing they don't need.
