Tune: St Asaph
('Through the night of doubt and sorrow')
Psalm 51 v.1-8 and v.16-17
*********
O God, have mercy upon me
Look on me, be gracious, see
Tend me with your loving-kindness
Come to me, forgive and bless
According to mercies tender
Many they be, me render
Blot out my sins, my transgressions
You do hear penitent ones
Wash me thoroughly, for I be
Here in my iniquity
Cleanse me from my sin, for I do
Confess I have sinned 'gainst you
Against you only have I sinned
Done this evil, love has thinned
Lord, you justified when speak you
And clear when you judge, 'tis true
Behold, I was brough forth, nature
Of sin had I from birth sure
Behold, you desire truth to be
In the inward parts, you see
And in the hidden part you shall
Make me to know wisdom well
Purge me with hyssop, so I be
Clean, washed, whiter than snow, me
Make me to hear joy and gladness
Once again, your peace no less
The sacrifices you desire
Are not burnt offerings by fire
But they are a spirit broken
And heart broken, contrite, then
You O God will not them despise
Forgiven by grace we rise

Ahh, the title of one of KP and my wedding hymns in the video! lol.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold. Remember that hymn when you attended my wedding - Through the night....?
I'm part way with the bird 🙂
Thanks N.
So glad we are not under that old testament burnt offerings thing, not only messy but dangerous. A broken heart I've had several times, hope it counts. Good work Orchi
Thanks SB. I think 'broken heart' is more 'being sorry for sins' - trying to explain 'contrition', though could apply too in the sense you mention.
Burnt toast for KP every day! lol.
At last! One of your hymns I can almost understand. I'll vote for that - go sit in the naughty corner.
Thanks Dave. Did you understand \'hyssop\'? Some herby thing!
Not that actual herbs can take aways in.
I give KP my wife herbs - laxatives! lol.
Don't go on like that orchi.... I'm beginning to think ..... she might be.... the persecuted one....
Got any hyssop there?
