Friends With Benefits
I doubt you will believe me,
but I swear
that bitch death,
is swiftly catching up on me ..
And so, if we are not
still strangers by this time
tomorrow ..
Then might I respectfully
suggest, we may
just as well become lovers ..
Or indeed,
at least friends, with benefits ..

Unfortunately Neville we are nearer our end than our beginning but our end still has a long way to go before we reach it.

At a certain age we give up on "friends with benefits" and settle for friends who are breathing. Your poem is one that senses the later part of life, which is funny if your sense of humor becomes self-deprecating. Got a chuckle out of this one. - Phil A.
Your opening sentence made me spill my green tea all down the front of my blue jeans Phil 🙂
Well done. Remember, the price of life is death.
and of course the price is non negotiable .. cheers Dan D .. Neville
