Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in replying or if I'm away for short periods. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon says, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

There’s something rather haunting
when I’m on the inner city streets
miles away from the ocean
and I suddenly hear the sea gulls caw,
the high-pitched screeching
takes me back to childhood beaches,
running across the sand just for
the fun of it, like Labradors
let of the leash,
to buckets and spades and sunburn,
to visits to brooding Welsh castles and
the flashing lights of the amusement arcade,
to sea-side picnics where sand gets everywhere,
in the sandwiches and our shoes and socks,
for days we’ll be crunching when we walk.

Nostalgic in its feeling and yet upbeat. Wonderful memories of the past create the present joy. Nicely written with great images.

Good write Tom.
Thanks, Orchi. Appreciated.
I enjoyed the sea side nostalgia here Tom and the wonderful imagery your words offered. Sea gulls can be both a menace and beautiful. I love to watch them in flight. Happy Thursday.

Great imagery, which is the heart of poetry. Nice work.
Thanks a lot for your comments, Dan.
So true Tom, hearing seagulls in the city can take you back to times at the seaside.

Yeah, I was in the office the other day and I heard the sea gulls, it really took me back. I decided to try and write a poem about it. Cheers, Tom.
