If I Was Just A Lonely House Upon a Hill

Teddy.15

If I was just
a lonely house
upon a hill
I'd be very happy
to have the sunshine
beam It's warmth
upon my walls and on my roof
but the rain?
well that would depend
on how hard it came down
wouldn't it
after all
I'm a home and being pelted
well, it would hurt wouldn't it?
then again hailstones are worse
lightning would cause me to
shake and shudder
thunder, torturing my very soul
I wouldn't mind a rainbow arch
above my roof though
that would be comforting
and as we all know
without the rain
we would never have a rainbow.

A wonderful turning of lemons into lemonade. Such a fun read, playful and in metaphor sending lessons. If not for the rain there would be no bath either and musty houses are not nearly as pleasant as clean ones. Very nice poem or fable.

Ah my dearest sorrenbarret, you may have given me a new title, for something even newer, I wrote this just this morning and I thought it would be much less liked, my metaphor absolutely important, as in fact we are the true soul of our home, thank you my dear dear friend. 🌹

      without the rain
we would never have a rainbow.

one to keep warm the hearts of all who read Teddy.

You will absolutely believe me dearest Melvin, when I tell you I knew with all my heart you would quote the last lines, because I know that you are the one who taught me to write from my heart even when I was already, and this rainbow counts not just for me but for everyone who believes in it. I post with a blind heart hoping to feel another, and for now at least I always do. You are a very very special friend, and I value every word you say to me. Thank you Sir. 🌹

Finding joy in the total outcome by accepting the good and bad. Knowing that wonder can emerge from disaster. How beautiful. Thank you for this metaphor of human nature.

Dear Thoughtless, you are everything but your pen name, your words today have truly reached me with every kindness there is to imagine. Thank you new friend. 🌹

            You are truly welcome, friend.

The personification here is exquisite. The house endures all kinds of weather as do we in daily life and we persist, for the rainbows will always come. Love the poem, love the pic.

Bella my dear Bella, I didn't mention the wind, I went back a few times but it seemed redundant in this one, you are always such a kind and spirited soul, and now I know the wind wasn't needed, thank you beautiful poetess. 🌹

So true. I have grown in the tough times. Beautiful work, sweet Teddy.

Oh my sweet Thomas, my inspiration always comes from somewhere and somewhere fabulous my dear sweet friend, thank you. 🌹

Not an easy task being a house, nor is it easy to be one metaphorically. You have succeeded, brilliantly. Kudos for that. Your "rainbow" lines give the poem some color (no pun intended). Wisdom however is the foundation of your poem. (I must stop punning.) Thank you for posting this most enjoyable poem. - Phil A.
