I.

Goldfinch60

I obviously started in my mother’s womb

To force myself out screaming and crying

Into this unsuspecting world.

This little bundle of joy who was to achieve what!

I went to school and scraped some exams

That earned me the right to work for forty seven years

During that time I married and had children,

Then married again.

I finished work and relaxed into retirement.

Retirement, probably the busiest time of my life

But worth it when I look back and consider

All the blessings that came to me during my time

So far.

So on I go, still blessed by family and friends.

I wonder what my legacy will be?

I wonder what they will say about me,

When I am no longer in this body,

That originated in my Mother’s womb

So long ago.

      A fine write Andy.
They will say better things of you than they will of my singing! heehee.

      • Goldfinch60

        Thank you Orchi.

You may never know someone might discover your singing one day and say it is better than Stockhausen. LOL

All will have an anthology of your works my friend. And may this not be for a good long while.

A thought-provoking piece, mate. What will our legacies be? For me, they'd hopefully say, a nice guy with a bad joke for every occasion, and wrote loads of stories and poems. 🙂

            • Goldfinch60

Thank you Tom, we never know what our legacies will be but I hope they think that I was repectful to people.

Enjoyed it? I'm sure you have, otherwise you have been submitting extreme fantasy here and have fooled us all.
So blow a raspberry (you wouldn't - far too well mannered) and rejoice!

              • Goldfinch60

Thank you Dave, no it is not a fantasy I have had a good life and hopefully people will remember the good in me.

Dear Andy, you have put into words what I think so many of us in our later years ponder. And I get what you're saying about retirement being the busiest time of your life. You have the knack of hitting just the right chords that reverberate, and give pause for thought. Another insightful write, with beautiful musical accompaniment, thank you!

So kind Bella and very much appreciated, thank you,

                  Andy

Ahh yes; womb to retirement and back. Neatly sums it all up. Good work.

                  • Goldfinch60

                    Thank you Dan, much appreciated.

I feel sure you have touched many on your journey through life Andy. I think many of us ponder on what our legacy will be when we leave this plane. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

                    • Goldfinch60

Hopefully I have Cassie and they will think well of me when I pass in many years time. Thank you.

I doubt there will be anything remotely untoward .. a life well lived I imagine

                      • Goldfinch60

Thank you Neville. I have had a good life for which I am very grateful.

                        Andy
