Tune: Melcombe
('New every morning is the love')
Psalm 138 v.6-8
*********
Though the Lord be high, He does see
And has respect to the lowly
But the proud He knows from afar
He not near them, the Morning Star
Though I am in midst of troubles
You will revive me, I your calls
Do hear, and you will stretch your hand
Against enemies in the land
You will quench their wrath and bring peace
Your help to me it shall not cease
Your hand shall save me, me up raise
And I shall offer to you praise
The Lord will complete here for me
That which does concern me, so be
Your mercy, Lord, endures for e'er
O forsake me not, leave me ne'er

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. to a tune used recently. This is an older poem, with a 'comforting' theme.

although the title was initially read as a contradiction in terms .. that was entirely down to me and my recklessness .. having slowed down a bit, I quite got into this and can believe that there are those who might well find these words a source of some comfort .. Neville
A comforting thank you N.
While I am not religious, I am often moved by the raw sincerity of your poem-hymns. Lovely to have a god that will rather than smite your enemies will quench their wrath...
Thanks J. It's from the Psalmist's words - and other people in the Bible, if my other poems are not based on the Psalms.
Yes, but you chose the specific passages to share with us!
Thanks J.
Glad you can take comfort, orchi.
Thanks D.
