Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in replying or if I'm away for short periods. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon says, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

Oasis are my Beatles,
Manchester my Liverpool,
The Hacienda is my Cavern,
Tony Wilson is my Brian Epstein,
Definitely Maybe is my Please Please Me,
Knebworth is my Shea Stadium,
Liam and Noel are my John and Yoko.

- Comment from author about the poem: Being a teenage in the 1990s there was always this comparison between the 1990s and the 1960s of our parents day. While I love the 60s music the 90s will always be mine. This is a light-hearted poem about that.

A contribution towards grater ( yes - it grates, but not too much) intergenerational understanding, Tom - but don't ask me which side I'm on......๐
I am a massive Beatles fan, and love all the Sixties music, but being in my teens in Manchester in the 90s was fantastic. I tried to make a connection between the two. My dad used to say, you won't be listening to Oasis in 30 yrs time.. well I still am. ๐ Thanks as always for your comments, mate.
Go for it, Tom.๐
Memories, flashes from the past nicely expressed in this piece
Thanks so much, Soren. Really appreciate your comments. Cheers, Tom.
Good write Tom.
Be a bit older - have John and Yoko, not that horrible Liam and Noel. All they say is F, F, F, and F! lol.
Thanks for your comments, and you've got a point! ๐ Cheers, Tom.
there will always be such comparisons Tom .. and I quite understand where you are coming from ..
you can beat an egg, but you can't beat the Beatles .. Neville
I agree completely about the Beatles.. my dad raised me on all their albums... But Oasis were the band we were all obsessed with in Manchester in the 1990s. It occurred to me that there were certain parallels, although my dad would strongly disagree. ๐ Thanks for your comments mate.
the first time I heard Oasis, I thought they had found a long lost Beatles demo or sumfink ๐๐ถ๐ถ๐ต๐
I was a teenager in the 60's. I experienced the British Invasion and loved it. But I also experienced the huge societal change that happened in the USA; theViet Nam war, Civil Rights, Hippies "make love not war" and the music of the 60's is inextricably linked with all of it. I love the music of the 90's also. Each generation will cling to the magic of the music in those coming of age years. Great write!
Thanks so much for your comments, Bella. Completely agree with you. ๐
Nice parallel. Great work, great music.
Thanks for your comments, my friend. Really appreciated.
I was a teenager in the 60s, great times!
Andy
So much of the 60's culture was fantastic! The music of course, and the films too. A wonderful decade!
Iโm a huge Beatles fan, but then I was brought up on their music, like your parents. Having said that, I do like Oasis too. However, the Beatles compositions will be around for a very, very long time. Happy Thursday Tom.
Yes, Cassie, I'm a massive Beatles fan myself, my dog is called Ringo! ๐ As much as I love them, Oasis were my era and from my city. I tried to draw on the parallels in this poem. Happy Thursday to you too, and thanks as always for your comments.
I love that your dog is called Ringo. That made me smile๐
Thanks Cassie.. I was suggesting all kinds of names, and that one just stuck! ๐
The 60s were my 60s
The Kennedy assassination was my horrific nightmare
The Beatles were my Beatles
1967 was my Summer of love because of Sharon
The Moon landing was my Moon landing
Great comparison Tom. โ๏ธโฎ๏ธ PEACE LOVE
Nicely done, AP! Love your response! My dad would so agree with you.
Your dad and I would get along just fine I think. ๐๐
