Growth

Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂

Growth – This is a concept which does contrive

To be at the heart of today’s discourse

And allows the big deception to survive.

Repeated commonly without recourse

To the truth concerning wealth and profits;

What else could it be but a natural force??

Population about to decline? – never;

Wealth gatherers scared right out of their wits.

Propaganda in process to sever

Any opinion which might suggest

Growth is not anything but the best.

I grow in meaningless non-sequitors, going off the point, not understanding cryptic poems, talking rubbish, etc. lol.

It’s all about markets and PROFITS innit? I watch while my once beautiful country is being turned into a concrete jungle. Where I am, flats everywhere to cope with the London overspill. We need mass uncontrolled immigration, we need people to fill the vacancies. There are currently ten million people who could work, inactive at the moment. Why don’t the government encourage them back to work instead of giving them benefits. The poor tax payer !!! And now I worry that the home we own won’t even be passed down to our grandchildren still living in it because they can’t afford to buy or rent in our high price area. The robbing bar stewards want half that as well. You got me going this morning Dave, but so did Neville, We live in a new age of propaganda and the death of free speech. God help us. Politically I am in the wilderness. Rant over. At least the sun is shining.

I feel I don't know enough of the situation existing in the UK to be specific in my response, Cassie.
What I do know generally from here is that every political decision seems to pay homage one way or the other to the great God Growth.

Glad to be of service sir Dog .. and yes, it would seem there are those who still say size aint everything ..

The voices of the some need to get louder, Neville.

Truth in a nutshell. Population growth is necessary for economic growth. God forbid that there should be a decline in that we might have to sacrifice a little. You've been hiding these pearls of wisdom Dave.

        • Doggerel Dave

Not pearls from where I stand, Soren. Truth. Not hidden either. Thought you had covered most of my stuff. All there in one form or another in plain sight among the rubbish......

        • orchidee

I am very upset. Did you have a hand in shipping 'Neighbours' to the UK? You just wanted to punish and torment us, eh?! heehee.

          • Doggerel Dave

Not quite sure what neighbours is, but if it upsets you.... just remember that it is an irritant which produces the pearl - so go to it orchi.

            • orchidee

it's a ghastly soap opera, on every day - maybe not weekends though.

              • Doggerel Dave

Ah, you are only making the pearl 9 to 5, five days a week, then? Try Utube, it could be spare episodes there if you wanted get the job done more quickly. Then you could focus on the return of.....TPS.....

The problem is that our planet cannot sustain the "population increase" and the "growth." As it is, we cannot feed everyone. Globally, there is a shortage of workers. We are killing the planet and may already have passed the point of no return. We need global cooperation not global hatefulness. We need governments that function for all the people and not for the few. "Idealistic", yes, but I'd rather idealistic than "I died." - Phil A.

                • Doggerel Dave

When it comes to 'global hatefulness' - competition and war I could not agree more, Phil.
For the rest as I have tried to argue, here and elsewhere, the problem is vast disparities of wealth and therein lies power over Government and the political.

Pessimists like me need people like you for balance; thank you.

                  • Doggerel Dave

I do hope that is not irony, Dan Because I consider myself very much the pessimist for a goodly portion of the time...!
                    Thanks for the read.

We all grow within ourselves Dave in spite of others trying to drag us down.

Don\'t quite get that one, Andy - Sorry.

                      • Doggerel Dave

Thanks Thad - there's a time for anger and a time for humour too.
                        Have a great weekend.

Growth leads to corporate. Corporate leads to shareholders. Shareholders lead to bottom line. Bottom line leads to dividends. Dividends must be paid.
It becomes impersonal, and the monster must be fed. A wicked good write dearest Dave, forgive me for not finding this goodie before.

                        • Doggerel Dave

And you are prepared to bury that beautifully linked progression here? It deserves a post of its own 👍👍Please do it, Bella!

I don’t mind the timing, so long as you don’t forget me altogether – despite my sometime sins!!

                          • Bella Shepard

I could never forget you my dear. As for your sometime sins, I think we're all guilty at times and we're in good company.

                            • Doggerel Dave

And the exhumation of 'Growth' through to 'paid' from here onto a page of its own?

                              • Bella Shepard

I'm thinkin real hard. Thank you.
