Tune: St Cuthbert
('Our blest Redeemer, ere He breathed')
Psalm 70
***********
Make haste, O God, deliver me
Make haste to help me, see
O Lord let them all be ashamed
Who me defamed
Ashamed, confused, all they that seek
My soul, though I am meek
Turn them away backwards, retreat
For that is meet* (*suitable)
Meet for those who desire my hurt
Let them be turned back, curt * (*cut short)
And quickly, they who me trouble
I shall not fall
Let those that seek you so rejoice
They have made you their choice
Let such as love your salvation
Praise you, the one
The one, God, to be magnified
Though here am I beside
You, poor and needy, Lord, swiftly
Deliver me
