It was released before I was born
But I had never seen it,
Never seen it until two days ago.
I had seen some excerpts
And knew some of the words,
And now I know,
I know that this will be,
Will be the beginning,
The beginning of a beautiful friendship.
It happened when she asked him,
“Play it Sam”
And he played that tune,
That famous tune.
Rick comes over
And sees her,
Sees the one he loved,
The one he loved some time ago,
She is sitting in his bar and he says,
Says those words,
“Of all the gin joints,
In all the towns,
In all the world,
She walks into mine.”
They talk and recall their love
And they remember,
They will always have Paris.
As they part once again
He looks at her with love
And says those words,
Those words we all know.
“Here's looking at you kid.”
So that was it,
I had now seen Casablanca
And a very good film it was,
I am sure others will agree.
So now for all of you out there
I will go out,
Go out and round up the usual suspects.

You are obviously well aware of the rewards gained by looking back – welcome to the past Andy! Great movie. Oh how Ingrid warmed my dreams as a young adolescent…… sigh!
So true Dave.
Ingrid was a beautiful lady and you could see that beauty within by looking at her eyes.

One of my favorite films I have seen several times. It bursts with famous quotes and is a story of love, true love where like in a Tale of tow cities the lover sacrifices his love to do what is best for the one he loves. Lovely
Thank you for you words soren, I know I will watch the film again. Such love is so wonderfully shown.
Andy
You came late to the party Andy, but you'll always have the memory. So glad you got to see it, it's one I never tire of. And they don't come any better than Dooley Wilson playing and singing that iconic song. Thanbk you!
I certainly came late but I did arrive and all was wonderful soren. Thank you.

I love the style and how it sits “on the page!” The atmosphere is like tendrils of smoke rising from a bar with just the right amount of lighting, ambient poetry!
Thank you for your vry kind words arqios.
