And as the fireflies
have one last dance
around the night time of summer
the air warm
a breeze soft on my cheeks
the smell of dry forest
the sound of animals
desperate for something to drink
the crackle of the bones
of the leaves under my feet
rustling sounds of a porcupine
and I?
well ...
I lay down on the hard ground
I open my eyes wide
and I wink, at the great moon
because tonight I share
one last night
with the fireflies.

Sharing life with Nature is magical Teddy.
Andy
It sure is dear Andy, thank you. 🌹
Love fireflies they bring memories of warm summer evenings in the country where they float like fairies through the woods and over the pastures. Bouncing balls of green, and yellow light. A lovely write Teddy
Such a lovely review dearest sorrenbarret, thank you so much, we all live in the richness of nature's beauty sometimes hard to see but we must always look. 🌹
A night well spent. To commune with Nature is always an exhilarating experience. Loved the line, "the crackle of the bones of the leaves." Wonderful poem. - Phil A.

Thank you dearest Thomas, it really is like this in Tuscany. 🌹
Brilliantly written here Teddy.15.
This is a wonderful monologue and homage, to those little lamp-ed friends, and is also a tenderly penned love note, to the wonder of nature.
Bravo, and I hope that all is well.
Thank you so much dear poet. 🌹
