Push to be the champions,
Affliction cannot take, as
Respect; is through the heart,
Admire what they make, thus with
Liberty, strength they do unfold, saying
Yes; to all the things, where
Peace creates the gold, this
Illumination, lights a better way, as
Choosing to be counted; means,
Sacred, is the day.

- Comment from author about the poem: I thought I’d have a little break from my “promenade poems”, to write another acrostic poem, that celebrates another joyous occasion, that adds more light to such a dark sad life, that is perpetuated by such dolorous and immoral repeated choices. The Paralympics are in full force now, and they truly are awe and respect inspiring, as every athlete who takes part in them, has chosen to be defiant in the face of such life obstructing obstacles. Thus, their mantra is “yes we can”, and like I said in the blurb of “Olympic Games (An Acrostic)”, this also is some positivity that we should hold on to; as a basis, to repair the horrid mangling that is rehashed all over the world. I have chosen the banner picture of the graffitied love hearts to accompany the poem, as it represents the true unity of all people, and obviously here, that includes everyone, of every ability. Also, just like I did in my corresponding acrostic poem, each of the first letters are in the Olympic ring colours, in alternating order. I would like to issue my full respect to all Paralympians, and I wish them all the success in the Paralympics, Paris 2024. I hope that you enjoy the poem, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

A noble and well deserved write about people that choose to overcome obstacles beyond comprehension. Loved it.
