PAINFUL TRANSITION II

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

Just like a dream,
It became a reality,
Why leave too early?
Leaving your son and daughters.

The news of your deep sleep
Travels like wildfire,
Many skirts and trousers
Wail in shock and surprise
At FUTH Wukari.

Wukari and St. Mary Cathedral
Are in ashes,
Mourning rains on many roofs,
Her adopted sons and daughters grieve.

Oh sugar and low blood pressure!
The vehicle of her home going,
Cheerfulness and kindness her garments,
Mothering children and adults.

She has gone home to rest,
Away from the troubles of the world,
This a road for all mortals,
Death, the vehicle of our transitions.

One by one we take a bow,
We are living to die, and dying to live,
Only death humbles humanity,
Glory or gory, a personal decision.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The poem is a TRIBUTE and as well an ELEGY. It reflects on stings of death. Death is a vehicle of transition to a higher glory or gory. On daily basis we lost our family and friends to the cold hands of death. It's unfortunate that we lost a dear mother, aunty, sister and wife (Mrs. Ifeoma). May her soul rest in peace. Amen 😭 😭 😭.

Nne, we are really pained over your demise. We can't question God. May your soul rest in peace. Amen.

I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies,it remains alone. But its death will produce many more kernels-a plentiful harvest of new lives.
