You realize it now
in the reminiscence of your adulthood;
All the things she said
without verbally saying them
She said I love you;
My grandchild
She said I care for you
I provide for you
She said I transfer
whatever grace I have left
over to you
for you to run a well fed
and meaningful race
She said all these things
and more
without fancy words
and complex ingredients
in her simple, and soulful cooking
that wove all the fabric and nurture
of who you were to become
in her heart, more than yours
could ever wish for

I swear you do not have a single miss!
I love this poem so mucchhhh. The description of a grandma's pure love, and the way you sort of snapped the reader back to reality with the cooking that's taking place at the end, ugh it's just so good.
I suddenly miss my Cuban abuela's warm embrace, she lives in Miami and I'm up here near Atlanta :,(
Awww man Rocky... You made me melt right there brother, thank you so much. It\'s so heartwarming, hearing a warmth such as your Abuela\'s spoken of with such endearment. Nothing can replace that in life, you know... I can honestly identify, and I\'m glad this piece spoke to an all familiar experience for you as well. My gratitude is unending here... Much love, peace and blessings brother.
