Everything's Alright

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
I AM ON HOLIDAY IN OCTOBER. NORMAL SERVICE WILL BE RESUMED WHEN I GET BACK. :-)

Sorry if there is a delay in replying or if I'm away for short periods. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon says, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

There’s a phrase from a song or musical

that comes to my mind

when I’m stressed and worried,

Everything’s alright,

everything’s fine.

When life threatens to get on top,

when things are getting me down

I find myself repeating this mantra

Everything’s alright,

everything’s fine.

I cannot recall which musical film

gave to me the words that I repeat

over and over to ease my mind,

as time went by the words became mine,

Everything’s alright,

everything’s fine.

When work stress gets to me,

or the queue seems to last forever,

when life seems to be a battle I can’t win,

the words appear, clear through the fog,

Everything’s alright,

everything’s fine.

I stress about writing this poem,

does everything have to rhyme?

I take a deep breath as the words come to me,

Everything’s alright, yes,

everything’s fine.

Very nice everything is a point of view I think of the song don’t worry, be happy and it plays in my mind every time problems come. I truly believe that everything happens for the best and whether this is so or whether it is not just believing it makes life brighter.

    • Tom Dylan

Yes, that's exactly it. The song has the same message as don't worry, be happy. Spot on. And completely agree with your outlook. Thanks for your comments, Soren. Really appreciated.

A line which I discovered quite early came from a play/film (1957/1960 John Osbourne), 'The Entertainer' and goes "Why should I care? Why should I let it touch me?". May say much about my person......
      Good write, Tom: Keep questioning.

      • Tom Dylan

That's another great line. Sometimes these words or phrases just stay, don't they? Thanks a lot for your comments, as always, Dave. Cheers, Tom.

From " Jesus Christ Superstar," I think.
If it works keep doing it. We all need a pressure valve.
A most intriguing poem, that gives a glimpse to how people handle pressure. The release valves are countless and varied. It's brave of you to open up about this. - Phil A.

Yes, that's it. I have those lines and the tune going round in my head when I get stressed out. Thanks a lot for your comments. Really appreciated.

No, everything does not have to rhyme. You have done a fine job here.

It!s a great mantra to remember when the going gets tough Tom. I like your thinking here. Have a wonderful Wednesday. All the best. Enjoyed your words.

Thanks, Cassie. That's exactly it. I tried to write something about the words that come to me when feelings stressed. And wonderful Wednesday, I like it! Have a wonderful Wednesday too! Cheers, Tom.

There's 'Neighbours' too, changed channels now, I think.
A prisoner chose 20 years in jail, rather than a week of having to watch 'Neighbours' as his punishment! lol.

                          • Tom Dylan

Haha, yes! Neighbours! But your comment reminded me of another show. Remember Prisoner Cell Block H? That felt like doing jail time! πŸ™‚

Yes - depressing to watch H.
