Dating a workaholic
Is the hardest relationship to be in
When you feel that you are alone
In the relationship
Where a lot of promises get made
Yet them same promises get broken
Which breaks your heart
The heart gets broken because it belongs to them
Sacrificing your heart
Just because you love them
Knowing that they're doing it to better themselves
They say it will benefit you too
Which makes you feel very proud of them
For all that they have accomplished for themselves
Yet they don't see the pain in your eyes
Waiting by the telephone to ring
To know they are on there way home
Safe and sound
They forget that all you want is their undivided attention
With no distractions
Yet work will always come first to them
More broken promises made
More tears shed
They really don't see the pain caused
All because they are thinking about the future
How it will be better
All they see is you annoying them
When they are busy
Not wanting to drag them away from work
Breaks your heart even more
They don't realize that you feel unloved
When that isn't the case
They love you very much
They have to be taught
That work and home life are different
You didn't sign up to be a part time partner
All you want is for them to really see you
and for them to know how proud you are of them
For all that they have accomplished
Yet they forget
That you are there cheering them on
Yet they forget
To make a little effort in the relationship
They think you will always be there
Even though you think about out leaving
Your heart won't let you leave
What keeps you going is knowing
That it isn't going to be forever
Dating a workaholic is rough
It just made you stronger and more supportive
They are grateful for all that you sacrificed for them

Yes. Hollywood made a bunch of movies on the theme; one of my brothers pleaded in vain to me about his wife failing to understand he was only working those long hours for her and their daughter, but she never understood.
Very expressive, excellently poignant, and heartbreaking. Thank you very much for sharing. Hang in there. My favorite flick on the theme is...Nicolas Cage in The Family Man.
Thank you and I will check that movie out
Excellent write
