Point of View

Tony36

It doesn't matter how others see me

It matters more how I see myself

Most people can't see past the rags I wear

They don't see

My spirit

My drive

My ambition

My desire to better myself and those around me

All they see is that I am a poor boy

From the wrong end of town

A no good street rat

Proving them wrong won't be easy

Many challenges and hurdles to overcome

But I plan to make it my goal

Step by step

Inch by inch

I will achieve my dreams

Prejudice again, darkens the eyesight of the viewer. Very nicely put into poetic verse, and the solution included as well. Fortunately, some people can see beyond the veneer. A good message to this poem.

Truly said. "...man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart--" (or something like that). Fewer will look until others' eyes. If only folk would they might begin to see their neighbors. Very beautifully rendered. Me likes. Thank you for sharing.
