My brother

sorenbarrett

A hungry man holds out a dirty hand
A small child whimpers in the street
A dying fish flops in the sand
A limping dog with wounded feet

Do you count them as your brother?
Will you care about what they need?
Or do you wait for another?
To give aid or them to feed?

Do you hide your face out of fear?
Look at them with Disgust?
Are you too busy to lend an ear?
Too petrified and jaded with mistrust?

Have you stood in their place?
Felt sick, hungry, alone?
Or do you think it’s a disgrace?
To step down from your throne?

This is wonderful, I'd be the one that gives the dollar with a smile and a kind heart, but I'd also like to say that there are sadly so many in our world of today that truly need that help in hand. We should all rise to the occasion to be kind and charitable when we can. 🌹 Kudos 🌹

Thank you so much, Teddy. Your words mean a great deal. I do believe that generosity is the core to all virtues and one cannot love without being generous. Thank you so much for your comments.

How could you not show compassion to the suffering? Whether it is our own or the animal kingdom, how can you ignore them?

Well, KP never gets off her throne, so I best get off mine! In her case 'throne' means 'the loo'! It's the sewage I feed her, you see (heehee).

I was troubled by Jeus' saying 'In as much have you have not done it unto one of the least of my brethren - helped, assisted, etc - you have not done it unto me'.
But it does not mean - forget to help just ONE person, and it's damnation for you. But rather 'If you do not help ANYone, not even one person'.
The reverse is true too, if we help anyone, we do it as unto Jesus, He says.

Again you speak the truth Orchi Another good hymn. Thanks for your review and comment. I hope the throne will soon be free so you can use it if needed. It is tough when one hogs the bathroom all the time. Tell KP to hurry up.

Depends if I keep feeding her sewage and vindaloo or not! lol.

periods of, well, poorer circumstance have taught me to be a little sensitive about the plights of others. People will claaim money you give to a street person likely will be spent on other than food; so what? I keep thinking of the old adage "There but for grace... " This is very nicely put.

Dan thank you for your comment and read. Yes i agree, those that put strings on their gifts are just making an excuse not to give. Something given is no longer yours once it is bestowed.

Mercy and compassion should be shown to all, humans and animals alike.
