Pastures In The Sky

Cassie58

it was a mistake

to take time out to dive

into the past

where I met my mother

in her prime

posing in monochrome

my father by her side

casual with his James Dean looks

a protective arm draped

reassuringly round her shoulders

parked before them

a seen better days coach pram

holding two under two

my younger brother chuckling

mum’s eyes flashed bright

as did her smile

while mine today

cloudy grey

brimful of rain

portray pain

at the loss of all three

swallows now flown

to pastures unknown

in a too high sky

i remain grounded

just about

It was a very long time until I re took my mother's photo back out of the cupboard, now I don't feel sad I show my beautiful son and he is very curious, as for my beloved brother. That is also on show a bit higher up as I don't think I could ever feel so sweet about his passing, such a beautiful beautiful poem, funny how photographs can do so much to a persons emotions. ๐ŸŒน

Dear Teddy, it depends on the moment when looking at photographs for me. Sometimes I can smoke, other times I still feel the loss. Thank you so much for your words. ๐ŸŒบ

Please excuse the typos Teddy. I meant sometimes you can smile ๐Ÿ™‚

        • Teddy.15

I always smile when you pop up โค๏ธ my phone makes constant typo's apparently because it's smart, but I am in doubt of that. ๐Ÿคฃ I always know what you mean. Happy Sunday beautiful Cassie. ๐ŸŒน

Cassie, the title of your poem is amazing. The simile of your eyes "brimful of rain," and the "pastures unknown" paint a truly clear picture of heaven. I can relate to your poem, too. Thank you for sharing.

          • Cassie58

Many thank yous Rodriguez for your very welcome visit and kind words. I appreciate you.

            Remember not the passing thereof
Instead, the memories of how they lived and smiled. ๐ŸŒน

Wise words AP, sometimes it still isnโ€™t easy to smile. Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a great weekend dear poet.

              • Accidental Poet

I know how hard it is to smile after a loved one passes. My mom and dad passes leaving my sister and I in strange place of searching their guidance of what to do in their absence. And eventually they came through as a feeling that they are still with us with love and inspiration. I seem to deal better with it than my sister does, but I'm more of spiritual person that she is. I believe in God and Heaven, and I know that they are ok. She suffers from anxiety, and I believe Dementia, so she seems unsure about so many things. But if you believe God and Heaven, then you'll know that your loved ones are ok. Have a great rest of the weekend to you too Cassie. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wonderful description of a sadness me most all have to try to deal with. And yes, the black and whites do seem more accurate. Nice work.

Both good and sad memories come from photographs Cassie but I believe the good memories are the ones that we remember the most.
