Lost Back in Africa
It was while he was watching
her wearing
the white woolen cot shawl
like that ..
Tied by her nannie, to protect
her head
from the sun, as she played
in the park ..
He thought she looked like
a young
Arab sheikha, or beautiful
princess
and for a moment or two,
found himself
once again lost back in Africa ..
On Selling the VW
Selling the VW
was an absolute wrench ..
A bit like selling
the bolt hole in Bulgaria ..
After all, it was
part of their everything ..
All they shared
of course, but not only
what they
made or then owned ..
But their entirety,
their history, their hearts
and their souls ..
Yet still they have each
other and one
just can’t put a price on
the kind of love they share ..

Awesome
I like awesome .. cheers
You're welcome
Both contain that same air of association one has with items that bring memories and thoughts of another time. Both also have lingering love that shadows the present. Love is one of the great motivators and it lingers long after it has past. Lovely Neville
You are invariably very generous but on this occasion extraordinarily so .. many big THANK YOU's my friend .. Neville
Well written Neville. I felt a lot in both. We do get attached to things. Our cars even begin to look like us after a while.
I must look like an old anglia 100e. Many thanks for popping in my friend .. Neville
I think Africa is close to your heart. This is such an endearing write, watching a small child at play. A lovely piece.
Your second poem reminded me of the comfort and security that bolt holes, caravans, camper vans and boats can have on their owners. Letting go of them is like losing a good friend. So many memories to reflect on over the years. Yes, thereβs alot of love and history here. Two fine poems. Just caught the special offer before it was withdrawn. I do love a bargain Neville.
Yes, Africa is very dear to me .. I am planning another adventure there even as I type .. I just need the thumbs up from my missus & the kids ..
Thank you for stopping to consider these two Cassie,
Yours sincerely a most grateful Me π
Brilliant.
......................... Cool
Two fine writes Neville.
The first shows that moment when something you see brings back memories and the second shows that 'things' cannot overrate love.
Andy
