My Redemption

rebellion_in_sanity

If I can hold your hand
and stare at the moonless sky
above the swirling haze of streetlights
fleeting glimpse of the stars
when the cloud lifts its veils
and greets the night

If we can convey
What we feel, through the silence of the night
and, see in each other's eyes
the look of contentment of a baby sleeping
and, no sadness for the time gone by

If I can hold you in my arms
and, whisper how sorry was I
for all the wrong I had done
and, look at the smile touch your eyes

If I can hear, your soothing voice
'the wrongs they were vexing
but, I knew you loved me from inside
let us blow the ifs like bubbles in the wind
and watch them disappear into the night'

  • Comment from author about the poem: I dedicate this poem to my wife of 28 years. I always had issues with showing love, after all these years she has come to understand my unsaid words. It is my redemption for the hardships I have put ourselves into due to my uncompromising stand on ethical values - at times it hit us hard financially but she was always by my side as were our daughters. I feel deeply indebted to them for letting me live a decent life

Very, very lovely and so beautiful. Softly romantic and woven gently with a haunting poignancy which nearly draws tears, this is excellently rendered with wonderful imagery. Thank you so very much for sharing. I love it.

A beautiful statement of acknowledging past errors and gratitude for someone that stood with you through good and bad right and wrong.
