Comes the Day......

orchidee

The day of the Funeral / Thanksgiving Service, that is...

We've called it both names for the service soon

RIP now Dad, and Rise in Glory

But not 'Funeral' alone

Dark and black and hopeless

Don't want people in black veils there

It's a comfort and healing, in a way

A Christian belief, I trust, of all who attend

At least to some degree or level of belief

Praying, wanting it to be comforting, consoling

Joining together to say our 'Goodbyes'

One said to me one day -

A visitor from America -

'See you next in the Rapture'

I thought, 'Why yes, I suppose that will be so

Unless me meet again on this Earth before then!'

Our final words to one departed may be

'See you in the Rapture; see you in Heaven'

It's what we felt to say to Dad

And then our lives continuing on

Day by day......

Thank you poets

For all your condolences, good wishes, etc.

Wonderful words Orchi, so glad all was well. May that Rapture be there for us all (but not yet).
