Mebbe It's Just ...October

Cheeky Missy

I See A Pattern Yet Remain...Confused

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMDCCCXCIX)

One yellow pepper in the blackness, whence
What of the broken promise? that detail
Which right in front of me was givn sans bail
To others? why's my life go that way? Sense
Knows far too keenly of the car and thence
A host of other things, til I'd avail
Me of is't highr ground yet all must 'non fail,
Ne efforts to please aught means of defense.
Was Mum s'posed to abort me?! It was her
Choice to retain me, and she loved me too.
Yet what of all erst promised which in poor
Reply was givn to others? What'd I do
But wait in vain? Where dawn begins to stir
With early blushes, will you say I knew?

If I Had An Explanation I'd Give It

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMCM)

How sparrows wait in silence, watching; they'll
Just get my happy smile, to fly off from thence,
The goldfinch even teases smiles, like whence?
Thy mercies new each morning lo, avail,
My head left spinning by the past days' tale
Til I don't know what is or what's pretense.
What's happened is quite past nor aught defense
For yonder. All my dreams are where?  What's bail?
Have I been in a funk?! For how long? Were
There just cause, what is now, that I seem to
Awake as if I'd been asleep?! Is't poor?
October is my niche...while that is true,
Yet what on earth is THIS? Shall I bestir
What, eh?  I guess I'll wait, oh LORD, on You.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Prolly IS the fact I have been waiting for October all year long, juxtaposed with all the scrambling of what I thought routine. Either way, oh well. Enjoy?

Well, thank you kindly, Sir. I maintain it's merely oiling the machinary, or what keeps me writing daily in the form which never yet ceases to be a challenge, insurmountable at times, or else convenient, but needing daily immersion to keep the ability sharp enough to tackle it.
