Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave

Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂

Well, well, well – what is going on here, then?

Sorted me out, exposed me right? Amen.

I have blocked Doggeral Dave simply because I'm tired of his bad behaviour towards anyone he doesn't agree with on this site. I'm tired of his arrogance and his manner to dictate what we write and think. Stick it David. I look forward to reading yet another post from you about me, this time I would ask all those who love me not to participate in his lonely theatre. Happy Saturday. And my last note directly to Doggeral Dave, on my poem in silence and disbelief you always write people die in war, like it's ok what happened, well David New York that day was not at war they were at work and sight seeing and taking their children to school and buying fruit at the market and flying in air planes for work and pleasure. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🌹❤️

I‘m sure with some work you could put this to music and sing…..

If I don’t get through the covid, I’ll at least die laughing…..

I feel a little like an eavesdropper here... I recall a similar tiff between a couple regulars on here a few years ago... I think one of the participants (the religious one) has quit posting, and the other (the nonbeliever) has passed on to whatever lies beyond this life. I try to stay out of it, but dang it DD, you've always seemed a right civil poetaster, and I am totally confused. But whatever happens, keep entertaining me!

    • Doggerel Dave

Yep Jarcher, I do concede you appear a little confused. But to clarify my use of terminology, for me a little alliteration goes a long way: As my name is ‘Dave’ the prefix ‘Doggerel’ perfectly conveys the kind of verse I write (sometimes!)
Now if my name had been ’Paul’ then a prefix ‘Poetaster’ could have served equally well and would not have raised anyone’s expectations to too high level…..
      Glad to be of service…🙃

You recall the older gentleman who posted on here by the nom de plume Dusk Arising? He appears to have passed on... his last entry was a piece in December 2022 with "chemotherapy" in the title. He had a big tiff with one of the religious contributors. I kinda tried to make peace... but it was too deep to fix... name-calling and damning to hell and all that.

        • Doggerel Dave

Yes I remember Dusk very well.. He definitely had a thing about religious belief particularly as purveyed by the established church. We had several lively debates on this very subject (I have no religion but don't attack anyone's religious belief unless it directly affects me, for if a religious belief helps people get through life, so be it). After several exchanges, Dusk would delete the whole thread....
I really liked, enjoyed his verse - he is a loss to MPS.

          • Doggerel Dave

I've dropped a 'final word' at the bottom of this thread. (Thanks for calling in, by the way.)

What do you do when you've got two friends fighting?

            • Doggerel Dave

Indeed! And I am sorry to put you in an uncomfortable position, Soren - although I'm sure you have the ingenuity and experience to create a workaround.....
              Take care.

              • sorenbarrett

My workaround Dave is to never throw out one friendship for another I remain available as a friend to both and should that be a problem to either then they have to make the choice.

                • Doggerel Dave

Feels perfectly reasonable to me, Soren - I knew you had it in you!

                • Cheeky Missy

I'm still insufficiently awake, despite having enjoyed my Barry's cuppas by now. That aside, is this truly a poem per se? We thanks thee for airing thy complaints, and now, for another? You're not supposed to make me smirk and smile with such posts as this, yet alas, you've got me now. Why are you men forever so amusing? Oh to die laughing! If only we could.

                  • Doggerel Dave

Just get through life the best way you can, Missy - no one can expect more of you than that.

It really is a shame, but on a platform such as this with maybe thousands of folk queuing to get on board .. it's gonna happen every now and then, write .. I am a great believer in freedom of expression and know only too well that we can please a lot of folk some of the time, but not everyone, nor even most, all of the time .. it is also sad that sometimes, some folk inadvertently get the wrong end of the stick and go off on one, when a quick dubble check, or pm might resolve an issue before it develops and gets out of hand or too hot to handle .. I rarely read the comments of my reviewing predecessors, but I felt compelled to on this occasion .. and it is encouraging that so far, as far as I am concerned, only mature, sensible and rational contributions have been submitted .. and I kind of agree with all of em ..

                    P.S.
Having been a good friend of DA Dusk Arising, I reckon he wouldn't have been adverse to proposing a kiss n make up (strictly on the quiet tho) and I shall raise my glass to him tonight ..

                    P.P.S
Talking about old friends, if anyone would like my spare copy of 'Just a Poet, Just a Poem' by the late great Kevin Browne please feel free to message me, I bought two in the hope his family might benefit .. I am happy to pay postage within the UK ..first come first served .. Neville

                    • Doggerel Dave

Thanks Neville. Well rational, sensible and mature had to start somewhere, right?
Don’t think we ever kissed and made up here, either Dusk or me, but we just carried on remorselessly after we had our ’debate’ and Dusk then deleted. I admired his contributions here, and he contributed positively to most of mine. Our only sticking point was his bee-in the-bonnet obsession with religion and the established church. Cheers to Dusk.

                      • Neville

indeed it does .. and I'm feeling a tad left out in the cold too by the way .. cheers, 🍷

                        • Doggerel Dave

I'm not sure if you mean I do not respond more generally, but only focus on this one issue.
I tell you, I'm exhausted most of the time; bloody covid saps my energy. I'm pretty sure I will recover now, but getting there is somewhat of a journey.
In the meantime, thanks for your support and of course, Cheers.🍷

'Final word' at bottom of this thread. Thanks for your contributions here, Neville.

                          • Doggerel Dave

So the 'final word' from me:
Let’s ignore the first half of T.15’s tirade above except to maybe look in your spare time at the way the term ‘love’ is used frequently on this site, but particularly by the complainant.
The issue in the ‘last note’ second half is worth a remark to the unbiased: The unvarying phrase I use when responding to poetry relating to war, but particularly those on the topic of the 9/11tragedy is “Innocent people die in war”. How could I ever suggest that was OK? What no ‘poet’ who has seen fit to respond negatively to that phrase has ever asked is ‘what war? If they had, then possibly a conversation might ensue…..
