Afraid

John Prophet

Afraid.
Humanity’s
afraid.
Afraid
of itself.
Afraid
of what
it’s capable
of.
Globally.
Trillions
spent
each year
on military
expenditures.
Weapons.
Armies.
Death and
destruction.
Humanity
protecting
itself from
itself.
Insane.
Trillions
that could
be spent
feeding
the hungry.
Housing
the homeless.
Spent
advancing
the human
condition.
Not in
destruction.
Not in
death.
Millions
over the
eons killed
defending
hilltops.
Whole
generations
wiped out.
Insanity.
On the
precipice.
Fork
in the
road.
Time to
grow up.

I agree but this won't occur until we as a species value others more than our pockets. Well written and worded with its short lines emphasizing its urgency and need.
