winters night

jim56

when the winter comes and the nights grow cold
when you were there with me its you i used to hold
sitting by the fire we held each other tight
very much in love by the firelight.

looking out the window at the snow so white
moon up in the sky lighting up the night
all these things i miss that we used to share
i sit here each night wishing you were there

your always on my mind in my memory
all the winter nights.  that you spent with me
how we sat together by the firelight
very much in love on a winters night

looking out the window at the snow so white
moon up in the sky lighting up the night
all these things i miss that we used to share
i sit here each night wishing you were there

In this poem the repetition feels like the continual returning of thoughts when there is a loss. Powerful.

Wonderful loving words Jim. That happened to me when my wife of forty years passed five years ago but things can change as they have for me.
