Twenty-Twenty True Thoughts

Shaunmatthewcpoetry

Twenty-twenty was a hell of a year,
When chaos and confusion filled the air.
Everyone was clouded by uncertainty,
Negative emotions settled in naturally.
They restricted our movements and contacts,
You sat at home watching TV, eating snacks.
-
The virus was spread from eating a bat?
What a load of bullshit, lies in fact!
Entities invaded the living room,
Not going to sugar coat, thought it was doom.
That time is forever etched into memory,
Yes, I had a mental health emergency.

Trying to make sense of what had happened,
Remembering when lockdown was actioned.
Unified we were not, separation still lingers,
Evil actions occurred under pale and dirty fingers.

Those facemasks were pulled way up high,
However, I wasn't ready to pray to the sky,
Overabundant thoughts that a loved one could die.
Unbelievable the bullshit they got away with,
Government corruption is monumentally big.
Hopeful but prepared in case it occurs again,
Treacherous actions laid out by narrow-minded men,
Still, realisation that reflection can poignantly pen.

This is a beauty I know folk would love posted all over social media. Excellently rendered in a charming acrostic with rhyming to boot, and superb imagery, I can't but LOVE it. Thank you for sharing.

I ate a bat once - it tasted strange! (did I? lol). Also the madness of saying drinking disinfectant will keep covid away.
