Puff of Wind

Spencer Wilhelm

Beware the edge of darkness.

The deep dark abyss that peers into the mind.

When one looks lamenting his fate or fame

Or dons thinking of all he’s failed to gain,

What once was near will be far

And skies of beauty like that of tar.

Nothing holds a place in the mind

For the man who has left all behind.

By seeking only things unattained

He’s forfeited all his gains.

Hmm, seems yours truly has been dancing on the edge of the same for years...the warning in conclusion now begins to haunt me. Fascinating and excellently rendered with haunting poignancy and perfect imagery. Thank you for sharing.
