I am old

I have grown up over the years,

been put through many pains.

Have had a lot said to my ears,

been put through a lies’ strain.

Walked through and over water,

through woods and fields alike.

In Spain watched a bull get slaughtered,

had the most beautiful in my sight.

Experienced many different cultures.

Targeted the enemy through my scope.

Followed the circling vultures,

to a family’s failed hope.

Swam in the Mediterranean Sea,

had fun skiing down the Swiss Alps.

Met a woman that loved me,

getting old with a balding scalp.

I have grown and lived thus far,

waiting for the future to pass by.

Like each old passing car,

worried my engine will die.

Reflecting on you

Why is it I think thoughts,

thoughts of terrible despair.

My feelings get tied in knots,

internally I too much care.

These thoughts bring on tears,

have me holding my hearts beat.

These things the future fears,

head in my hands in my seat.

Why do I think thoughts so sad,

bring tears into the world’s eyes.

Why does my mind think so bad,

of life and how we all die.

Why are my thoughts of despair?,

what is it that draws me here?

Alone I sit in your favorite chair,

living through my biggest fear.

The leaves dance

Watching the wind blow by,

watching the branches dance.

Leaves let loose and allowed to fly,

away from the side of my glance.

Flying freely with the winds flow,

bouncing, rolling along the ground.

I love watching this autumn show,

and enjoy the leaves landing sounds.

Morse code as they roll and slide,

conversations with the other trees.

In each other the leaves confide,

pushed away with the breeze.

Colorfully they fly, through the air,

rolling, sliding to a pictured stop.

Painting the ground unaware,

watching the wind make them drop.

Red, orange, yellow, and brown,

the leaves colorful views.

Without ignoring the sound,

every hour the picture is new.

Watching the wind blowing by,

stuck watching in a trance.

With nature, the trees comply,

admiring a leaf filled dance.

Very lovely. Each is a beauty in its own right, together expressive of a larger reality unfolding throughout, the queries posed and unspoken tempting answers. Charmingly rendered with excellent imagery and haunting poignancy.
