Aa Harvey

Katrina

We spent a lifetime apart,

But I knew right from the second start,

That you have an important piece of me.

Like a blast from the past,

I smiled and you laughed.

I wasn’t expecting that we’d ever meet.

I smoked your memory away.

Thought I’d gone for the grave,

But then you recognized.

I saw it in your eyes,

No word of a lie,

It could be written on the horoscope page.

Is our future without?

My heart is taken, no doubt,

Yet we have hardly met.

Place your body in sight,

I want to see you one more time,

Maybe you’d want to get a drink with me?

Then I can tell you how I feel,

Maybe this could all become real,

If you want the two of us to be.

You met me in school,

When I was King of the Fool’s,

Never been a leader of the pack;

But with a little romance,

If we could just take a chance,

We could find ourselves in something good.

I no longer need bud,

Just a little old love,

Someone who knew me way back when.

You spoke like I’m a friend,

But I don’t look back, back then,

For that is my wasteland bones.

Oh how we have grown,

On this foundation of stone.

Could innocence have let you see,

That’s I’m still just a kid,

Living in this big man’s shoes?

I’m dreaming about you.

Maybe you smiled out of politeness.

Maybe you bear true witness,

To the person that you knew.

Well I’m just a boy,

You met me when you were a girl

And then our lives once entwined, drifted.

I just don’t recall,

Be my photo on the wall,

A walkway through the depth’s of my mind.

If you have the time,

I’m in the place for you to find.

What are you looking for?

If it is not me,

Then c’est la vie, c’est la vie,

But imagine what could be.

Sorry I don’t recall,

But if you tell me it all,

I could remember it with you.

We met each other as kid’s,

Grew up, I never got married,

But imagined my whole life.

Could you be the one wish?

Could love really exist?

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see...
