i've been livin'
in a chicken
shit dust cloud
breathing the fine
particles of your
still lingering
past mem'ry--
you were this
cowboys dream
at first;
great in the saddle,
a smooth ride,
you really
'spurred me on' ---
finding the right woman's
a mighty risky
venture,
sorta like
walkin' inside
a cow pasture,
you never know
what you're gonna find
'neath your boots, later--
you were prettier
than a new
barbed wire fence
and had so many
'good points'--
but, even afta
treatin' you like
a lady and
handlin' you with
kid gloves;
in the end,
i still got pricked~
