we count the cost of those we’ve lost
their sacrifice, the price they paid
the blood they shed, our honoured dead
their hallowed memory will not fade
so we recall with passing years
the tears, a stream of solemn flow
as we remember all those deaths
in fields where scarlet poppies grow

Beautiful tribute! Brava! 🌹👏🖤❤️🖤
Thank you so much for stopping by. Much appreciated.
You are welcome!
Cassie! At last you are back! Warmest greetings.
Now in response (should you wish to provide one) just a quiet acknowledgement will do fine……. No temptation to team up again with that well known 'love poet' now, is there? All forgotten…..
'Poetic' war not on the horizon?
That's a relief....
Thank you Dave for those warm greetings. You really are spoiling me today with all this attention 🙂. Four comments no less. Have a happy Tuesday.

Many thanks Tony for that lovely comment. So much appreciated. Have a good Tuesday.
LEST WE FORGET all subsequent wars, the casualties on all sides, (both civilian as well as military) and the stupidity of the politicians and the military industrial complex which inflicted it all.
A very well conveyed comment Dave. Unfortunately the politicians never learn do they?
No they don't Cassie - but neither do the people who vote them in or those who glorify war,
.. As far as this particular poetic genre & memorial tribute is concerned, one term immediately springs to mind 'Non Pariel' .. Neville
That is only because the easy way out of contemplating such a tragic stupid war is to create heroes out of all those young men who lost their lives in a futile project, and ignore the processes which lead to that and subsequent conflicts.......
Thank you so much Neville for your very generous comment. Have a good Tuesday.
True words Cassie. We WILL remember them.
Andy
Many thanks Andy. Hope all is good with you. Have a good Tuesday.
So relatable to life. To time. The passing of it, and the value we place upon these things. Told with a wisdom available to the naked eye. I love it!
Many thanks Garth for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment. Have a happy Tuesday.
