No One / The Law

 No One / The Law

Nations divided cannot stand.

A nation’s leader is not a brand.

Corruption is not streamlining the process

it is grounds for arrest.

Lies are not solid under-pinning.

Statesmanship is not a matter of winning.

Leadership is not a concern for self-wealth.

Public safety is not maintained

through ignorance of human health.

Representation is the voice of the people

whether or not you win or lose.

The people are the ones who choose.

The will of the people reigns supreme

self-interested fools can only dream.

Pandering to the worst emotions of mankind

is not building a solid base.

It is undermining the foundations

of the human race.

Fraud and grift are not executive privileges.

They are crimes.

They always have been in every village

through all of time.

If you sell your soul to gain power forever.

The people will say, “Not now, not ever!”

Freedom is not a gift from on high.

It is the labor of those down below.

This poem seems applicable given the last election. Never the less we must think that all of the founding fathers were criminals being traitors punishable by death. One might say they were in the right so couldn't be guilty but it all depends on which side of the fence one is on. A wonderful write with power

I admire your powerful commitment, Phil.
I have to ask, however, who's law? and in how many western world nations do your implied criticisms not apply? My own view is that your identified faults are pretty much universal in varying degrees.

Wonderfully true words Phil but I wish the leaders of the countries would see this as the way forwards.
