What can one ever do?
I am one to see things through,
But I am weary
On this dreary
Sunday night.
What can one ever be?
I am one who needs to be free,
But I am so dreary
On this weathered and weary
Sunday night.
What can one ever say?
I’ll not budge who I am today,
But I am so very weary
Of things being so damned dreary
On this Sunday night.

Ooh does not wike dreary nights? Winter must be a cruel drag. I mean, I struggle every January anyway, but it's only November and you's lamenting its "dreary" sight. I wishes you success in charming off its nastiness. Lovely and beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
It’s the time change and the perpetual darkness thereafter. Shortened daylight, longer darkness. Bad combo for me, especially since I have MDD and GAD…on top of that…SAD. Acronym soup! 😂😢 Anyway, thank you for reading and commenting! Always appreciated, friend!
the answer is- do something everyday that makes you happy...then you have something to look forward to and It makes facing the next day a bit more bearable
Indeed. That’s all one can do. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. Always appreciated. 🙏❤️
The poem speaks to exhaustion not of the physical type, but of the emotional a poem with some depressing overtones
Indeed! Thank you friend for the read and the analysis! Much appreciated!
Time change can bring
this melancholy into flight! 😢
More darkness comes,
when there's less light! 🕯️
My pleasure to read indeed! 👍 👍
Best regards ✌️ peace. Thad
Indeed! That is the crux! Thanks Thad! Your read and feedback are both much appreciated, friend! ✌️Peace!
It might help if we think - there's only a few weeks to go, the nit starts getting lighter again.
Oh…I am counting the days, which, ironically, is basically a Christmas countdown! And there’s that dang anagram again 🎅😱😂 Thank you so much for reading and commenting, friend.
i really hope the dreary mood passes - time really drags and it's a lamentable time indeed...
poignant write
Thank you friend, me too! I really appreciate your time and comment! Many thanks! 🙏
always welcome, take care, and have a bright and cheerful day
I so get this Tristan .. as a general rule, Sunday nights in November rank among the top four of my overall least favourite nights of the year .. I tend to get a bit of a downer in November and the end of a weekend usually heralds another busy week .. Neville
Oh. For sure! I am glad (though, that might not be the best word) you related with the poem. Thank you so much, my friend, for reading and commenting!
