Notice of absence from arqios
Be kindβ¦.
β¦. words donβt rewind
Be kindβ¦.
β¦. words donβt rewind
Ashen grey is the house of remembering.
Before each portal opens,
your faceless bard swoons.
He strikes a drum of bone and brittle whispers;
With cracked powd’ry fingers,
he inscribes your name in dust.
He etches it longer than it ever was,
the curves of your urn.
You gather there your ashes and nourish my soul.

Wow. Just Wow.
Thanks Ria ππ»
Sombre, respectful and raw. I resonate with this poem. Second stanza powerful.
your faceless bard swoons
That tells me everything. The short stanzas suit this piece very well. It was touching and left a lump in my throat.
It wasnβt meant to accompany the morningβs hot drink. But I was attempting several things, including a bit of a homage to Paul Celan and my dad, both conveniently gone ahead of us reading and writing still. Thanks Cassie π
Better suited to a shot of brandy perhaps π You achieved what you set out to do π
You may just be right there!
Somber and sad poem of loss and missing someone near. Very well written with amazing imagery.
Thanks Soren, hope youβre having a rejuvenating weekend!
Sorry to hear of your loss! A wonderfully somber yet respectful remembrance,, friend! β€οΈ

You're welcome!!!
Good timing. My wife just returned from the UK, after having her mother cremated. Her ashes are staying on the mantelpiece, for now.
It's not worth battling, sometimes.
And still the battle is real. Sympathies to the family.
Jeez this is so real & so raw on my first visit I thought I had caught mumps or something that prevented a decent intake of breath before swallowing .. 10/10 ++ ππ
Thanks mate ππ»
