Acronyms – not an inspiring title, is it?

Acronyms can seem like a secret code;

(In medicine everywhere it’s the mode).

But are they an aid to comprehension?

Or understanding worthy of a mention?

                                          .

Maybe some acronyms have a function,

Can be a memory aid in conjunction

With complicated or boring routines,

Or could save much embarrassment it seems:

                                         .

Guidance for young fellas about to embark

On a new job - it’s advice you should hark:

Let your first day at work be a success -

Acronym helpful in such time of stress:

                                        .

The letters in question, just let me see,

Are X, Y and Zed, or should that be Zee….

Remember before you arrive full clip,

The acronym means Xamine Your Zip.

      • Doggerel Dave

I only just 'got' the acronym, would you believe? It had been a slow Sunday....My apologies for the misread. Take care

Sir Orchi NS uses acronyms all the time, to throw people off on to sidelines, in his Non Sequitur role.

          • Doggerel Dave

But how does he leave his trousers, or (second line of defense) his reinforced combinatiions?πŸ‘

          • arqios

Acronyms just mess me up, I’ll have the letters fine but what they stand for would play hide and seek. Last month I got home from my shift to see my zip undone, must have been for the whole shift. Lucky I had a work apron as PPE

Working on the line??Jeez, mate - do you have to bring reality onto a poetry site??

              • arqios

Bahaha, nothing like the cold truth to douse a flame! Once in Albury, I had to signal my mate who was speaking in public with a split track. Hilarious!

Agreed - but you gotta work with what you got... so you got one for my (sorry that particular) situation?

                    • sorenbarrett

Yes, Dave I knew that one. I guess that I’ve been told it too many times already a fun read.

                      • Doggerel Dave

You were ahead of me - I hadn't heard it before, although not talking the situation here, just the acronym....... Could have been good communication and a saving of face or whatever had I known.
I still live in hope that one day you will recount some of your real life experiences into posts here, Soren.

Ha ha Dave, now I don’t have to worry about that one, being a woman. Those acronyms can be APITB. I always have to look them up. Sometimes there are several possibilities. LOL. Never seen a poem on this subject matter before. You are certainly original when it comes to poetry. All the best.

Hi Cassie, This is the start of what promises to be a very hot day and already I’m in a state of discombobulation. Don’t know if I should look forward or back first. Back I seem to remember any number of young women with zips on their jeans (moving swiftly on).... forward I like you have to look up acronyms. No concrete luck with APITB. Plenty of use, but no access to meaning. Frustrating. Thanks for your call and if you can find the time to enlighten me, I’d be more than grateful.

A pain in the backside , don’t want you exerting yourself trying to find solutions in all that heat.,πŸ™‚ Keep cool and drink plenty of fluids.
