Song of Life

David Wakeling

Lady Time dance for me, let me have this glorious day,
Wrap the whole Universe in one small wish and let me say,
I am here, I am here and it is good.

The bold and shameless winds beckon and hammer at my door,
Wolves and hounds of fear howl all night scaring me to the core,
They do not raise the grieving Moon in her sorrowful chore,
Or lift the treacherous Waves of terror in the sea for,
I am here, I am here and it is good.

To look deep into the blue sky, to smile at the green lawn,
To declare the magic of life from the day you were born,
To sing I am here, I am here and it is good.

Just being here is good enough. A wonderful poem of proclamation of one’s existence and the joy and exuberance that it brings. Nicely imaged this poem, paints the picture in words

Shivers, my hair stands on end as those last lines punctuate and repeat: "I am here, I am here and it is good." Sweet DW!
