The wedding

David Wakeling

He’s been waiting all his life for this moment.

Yet he’s as nervous as an oyster in the sun.

She’s been waiting all her life for this gent,

Yet she’s worried if he will like her sense of fun.

Under the Sun in the sky and near the blue ocean,

They put their hands together like two brave soldiers,

Ready to face whatever the day has to send.

With a smile and the knowledge that this is the day.

The cats in the alleyway cease their meowing,

The brazen dogs hold their barking for a moment,

Even the doves in the sky land on wires out of respect,

For they sense that Love is passing by.

That moment of uncertainty when time stops and one is unsure of the outcome. Love is such in the beginning, a beautiful poem of that first moment.
