The Ghost of John Lennon

Teddy.15

If the world that we live in was kinder

there would be nobody sleeping on the street

If we lived in a world that was kinder

The homeless would own more than just a bag and a sheet

If the world that we live in was kinder

poverty and desperation wouldn’t exist

if we lived in a world that was kinder

War and violence just wouldn’t be

I wish the world would change for the better

Just imagine a world, with everlasting peace.

One of my favorite songs, Teddy. A beautiful thought and beautiful words. Nicely written in rhyme this thought is particularly applicable this time of the year. I don’t know why any season should be more applicable than another to love in peace, but in a Christian world, we seem to think that if we offer kindness once in a while, it is sufficient

Such lovely words from you dearest sorrenbarret, imagine being the key word, it could never happen, but for my Son I would love to see just a bit less war and hate and greed and homelessness in our world, and yes not just at this time of year but all year round. Thank you for your beautiful compassion. 🌹

I’m quite taken by the multifaceted possibilities of the word “ghost” in this poem.

      • Tristan Robert Lange

        Me too, actually! Astute point!

        • Teddy.15

Dear Arqios and Tristan, John and I share the same birthday if it\'s any interest, thank you for your very kind words and curiosity. Of course just wishful thinking that the world could be kinder but never say never. 🌹

        • Tristan Robert Lange

Boy do I imagine this everyday. My soul longs for it. Peace. Amen Teddy! This does justice to John's memory and to all who cry out for peace and an end to violence.

I cannot thank you enough for such beautiful vibes on this one, I guess anyone who loves the world would probably want to see some sort of beauty in it, instead of all the terrible darkness we all now see each day, it's become normal, for my young Son I wish for something better. 🌹

Yes! For sure! I cannot thank you enough for this poem, my dear friend! If only we lived closer we could have coffee/tea (decaf/herbal anymore for me...lol) together and chat! But I am truly thankful for our digital friendship and for your heart which exudes in your poetry, no doubt! I feel for your son and my daughter in what is increasingly a darker and cruel, heartless place. 😢 Peace to you my dear friend and bless you for dreaming with the rest of us dreamers! ✌️☮️❤️🎵

              • Teddy.15

                ✌️☮️❤️🎵 absolutely dear Tristan.

LOL! Let me correct the record. My daughters. LOL! Can't exclude one of them! 🤣

A fine write, Teddy. The annual cost of feeding, clothing, housing, educating, and finding paths to joy for all the children on the planet is less than what we spend on armaments quarterly.

                  • Teddy.15

Incredibly true and sad, thank you for your support dearest Jerry. 🌹

if the world looked only through your eyes Teddy,
what a world it would be.
a little piece of my heart will always belong to you my friend.

I'm completely overwhelmed by your words this evening Melvin, if my scribbles can touch your heart with so much love then I think that it's the most highest praise from one writer to another I shall cherish this, we've been through some stuff together haven't we. 💙 Thank you with all my heart sharing with you in these years has brought me to a place I have healed my grief. 🤗

Beautiful Teddy. I miss John. Yes, kindness and love. It seems so simple.

                      • Teddy.15

Thank you my dear Thomas, for your very kind words and compassion. 🌹

instead of writing a comment on your poem Teddy, I chose to write some words on my love for john Lennon, and my love for the poetry you write.

A beautiful poem and wish. Peace could be had if all the people would unite and rid us of the evil-doers. There are but a couple of dozen despots who are spoiling your dream Teddy. It would be a beautiful world without them, and we could begin to fix the planet. Loved your poem. It is ever so appropriate for this season , - Phil A.

I don't think in my life I've ever seen worst times for any of us, the thing that is so very sad is we seem to find it all the norm. Thank you dearest Phil, for your great compassion dear friend. 🌹
