What’s My Heart For?
What’s my heart for
if not to love you?
It keeps me alive
but without you I die.
What’s my heart for
if not to love you?
What can I do
in a world without you?
Where shall I go
with a heart this hollow?
How can I live
with nothing to give?
Who am I now?
I am but a shadow.
What’s my heart for
if not to love you?
Just like before
you left wanting more.
Now, what do I do?
I’m not a man without you.
You’ve taken my soul
and left a black hole.
I’ve lost all my fire
my lust, and desire.
What’s my heart for
if not to love you?

it's dreadful isn't it .. I mean that bloomin feeling you poetically allude to .. your poem tho' is the exact polar opposite .. nice one brother Phil .. Neville
sad and difficult situation beautifully written about, I enjoyed reading
I wanted to highlight a stanza but I cannot, this is real poetry from the heart, my friend lost his wife to cancer, she was a beauty from Naples, I can tell you it is what I imagine he writes every day, I write for him when I write about love. 💙
Bravo
Very emotive words Phil.

Feeling that bereft-ness and it does seep into anything and everything. Much enjoyed!
