Tune & Hymn: 'Come, thou long expected Jesus'
Luke 1 v.11-17
**********
Angel of the Lord did appear
To Zacharias drew near
He was troubled, on him fear fell
Angel this message did tell
Fear not, Zacharias, your prayer
Is heard, and your wife shall bear
Wife Elisabeth, shall have son
And you shall call his name John {Baptist}
And you shall have joy and gladness
Many shall rejoice, you bless
For he shall be great in the sight
Of the Lord and in His might
He shall drink no wine nor drink strong
He shall be filled all along
With the Holy Spirit even
Before his human birth then
Many of Israel he shall turn
To the Lord their God and learn
Of Him, John shall go before, he
As Elijah of old be
Shall turn hearts of fathers unto
The children, and them renew
Turn disobedient to be
Wise, ready for the Lord, see

Thanks A. Poor Z was for a while, as he did not believe the message.
The story is well known and is in this hymn retold in good verse. Lovely Orchi
Thanks SB.
He said he wasn't-Jesus said he was...
Gets me thinking, it does?
Thanks 2. A sort of 'second Elijah'?
Or was it?
A fine write, Orchi.
Thanks J.
