When you said goodbye
but you just can’t leave,
When you hold so tight
that your hands they bleed,
So take these lungs
cause you were my air;
I keep breathing in and out
but you’re not there.
We never think that we run out of time,
Always believed we could keep it alive,
Didn’t know then you were everything,
I’m haunted by all the words that I said,
Waking up in a hospital bed,
I Didn’t know then you were everything-
When the time comes you gotta let it go
When the time comes you gotta let it go
Every star that lights up the sky
will always burn the brightest as they die.
We never think that we run out of time,
Always believed we could keep it alive,
Didn’t know then you were everything,
I’m haunted by all the words that I said,
Waking up in a hospital bed,
I Didn’t know then you were everything-
When the time comes you gotta let it go
When the time comes you gotta let it go
When the fire dies and there’s no light and
I see you for the last time I-
I have to let it go!
When I lose to the skyline
can’t follow you to the other side I-
I have to let it go.
When the time comes you gotta let it go!
When your whole life depends on
these hands that you hold-
When the time comes you gotta let it go!

A very poignant and tender poem, beautifully written
Beautiful
You can't know until it happens and you find yourself left nakedly behind, unable even to weep, a shell where you'd thought yourself a whole person. Winsomely rendered with excellent imagery and a painfully haunting poignancy.
